Pain: Sensation, Perception, Cognition, and Management

8:30-17:30, 25 Oct. 2026

This symposium, a collaborative effort between the IASP and CASP, has been proposed and organized by Xue-Jun Song, MD, PhD, Professor at the Southern University of Science and Technology in Shenzhen. Dr. Song is President of the IASP China Chapter and member of the Scientific Program Committee (SPC) for the IASP 2026 World Congress on Pain. Prof. Shuiqing Li, MD, Chair of the Department of Pain Medicine at Peking University Third Hospital in Beijing, serves as Chair of the Organizing Committee for this symposium.

The IASP-CASP symposium, Pain: Sensation, Perception, Cognition, and Management, will take place from 08:30 to 17:30 on October 25, 2026. The program will feature lectures spanning both fundamental research and the clinical diagnosis and management of acute and chronic pain. The speakers are neuroscientists and doctors from over 20 of the most prestigious medical schools and hospitals in mainland China. The doctors specialize in pain medicine, anesthesia and traditional Chinese medicine. The official language of the symposium is English.

Professors Andrew Rice (IASP President), Kirsty Bannister (SPC Chair), Mary Cardosa (President-Elect), Catherine Bushnell and Rolf-Detlef Treede (past Presidents), will speak at the symposium opening ceremony.

The symposium welcomes all IASP congress attendees to participate, and coffee breaks will be provided. We look forward to meeting you and sharing our experiences at the symposium.
