581: Post-Graduate Certification in Neuromodulation and Pain Management- 4-Year Progression Data
Topic: Education, Societal Impact, and Others
Subtopic: Education
Background and Aims: PgCert is a university-accredited neuromodulation programme developed to establish consistent global educational standards across diverse clinical specialties. We present 4 years progression data focusing on enrolment, candidate demographics, professional background, and academic outcomes. The aim is to assess programme reach, performance, and relevance to contemporary clinical practice.
Methods: It is a fully online modular programme offering both synchronous and asynchronous learning, designed for full-time professionals to complete a part-time qualification within one academic year. There is a strong governance framework to ensure alignment of the program with QMUL’s (Queen Mary University of London) academic standards and regulatory obligations.
Results: Enrolment remained stable across earlier cohorts (17–28 candidates per year), increasing to 32 candidates in 2025/26, with consistently high academic performance and low rates of resits, deferrals, and withdrawals. The programme attracted a progressively diverse international cohort (N = 95), with expanding geographical representation across the UK, Asia, Europe, North America, Africa, and the Caribbean. Candidates represented diverse professional specialties, predominantly Pain Specialists and Anaesthetists, with increasing participation from Neurosurgeons, Nurses, and Industry Professionals. Notably, eight candidates in 2025/26 were independently practising neuromodulation clinicians, highlighting relevance to advanced clinical practice.
Conclusions: The PgCert programme demonstrates strong academic outcomes, global reach, and multidisciplinary appeal. High attainment, low attrition, and participation from independently practising neuromodulation clinicians support its value in advancing specialist expertise and clinical leadership, shaping future programme development and recruitment.
