415: Research of Ultrasound-Guided Extracorporeal Shock Wave for Third Lumbar Transverse Syndrome

Background and Aims: To explore the clinical efficacy of different pressure levels of extracorporeal shock wave therapy in the treatment of lateral epicondylitis of the humerus.

Methods: 90 patients with unilateral third lumbar transverse process syndrome were selected and divided into three groups according to different treatment pressure levels: Group I, Group II, and Group III, with 30 patients in each group. The pressure levels were 2 bar, 2.5 bar, and 3 bar respectively. All three groups were treated once every 3-5 days, and the treatment was continued for 5 sessions as one course. The NRS scores before treatment, 1 week after the last treatment, 1 month after the last treatment, 3 months after the last treatment, and 6 months after the last treatment were compared.

Results: The NRS scores at different time points after treatment in each of the three groups were all lower than those before treatment (P < 0.05); the NRS scores of group II and group III at 6 months after treatment were lower than those of group I (P < 0.05); the excellent and good rates of group II and group III at 6 months after treatment were higher than those of group I (P < 0.05); group III had more adverse reactions (short-term pain aggravation after treatment, subcutaneous ecchymosis) than group I and group II (P < 0.05).

Conclusions: The extracorporeal shock wave therapy with a pressure level of 2.5 bar for third lumbar transverse process syndrome has definite efficacy and few adverse reactions, and is worthy of clinical promotion.
